Delightful Cherry Pie Bars that combine the flavors of traditional cherry pie in an easy-to-serve format, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups cherry pie filling
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Mix together the flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Add the softened butter, egg, and almond extract to the dry mixture and mix until crumbly.
  4. Press half of the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  5. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
  6. Crumble the remaining dough over the cherry filling.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Let cool completely before slicing and dusting with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes
