Whipped Chocolate Frosting

A fluffy and rich whipped chocolate frosting that elevates any dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226 grams) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 ½ cups (300 grams) powdered sugar, sifted
  • ½ cup (42 grams) unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4–6 tablespoons heavy cream, cold

Instructions

  1. Beat the butter in a large mixing bowl on medium-high speed for 3–4 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  2. Sift powdered sugar and cocoa powder into the bowl, add salt and vanilla, and mix on low speed before increasing to medium-high.
  3. Add heavy cream one tablespoon at a time while mixing on medium speed until desired consistency is reached.
  4. Whip the frosting on high speed for 3–5 minutes until soft peaks form.
  5. Use immediately for frosting or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Notes

Use room temperature butter for the best result. Feel free to customize flavors with espresso or mint extract.
