A heartwarming dessert featuring layered fluffy cake and creamy custard, perfect for family gatherings.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups vanilla custard (store-bought or homemade)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a square baking pan.
  2. Creaming the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually mix into the wet ingredients.
  6. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool completely.
  9. Pour the vanilla custard over the baked cake layer, spreading it evenly.
  10. Spread the remaining cake batter over the custard layer.
  11. Return to oven and bake for another 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
  13. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
