A warm and rich dessert that combines fluffy cake layers with luscious vanilla custard, perfect for gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups vanilla custard

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking dish.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl; add to the butter mixture alternately with the milk.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Add the vanilla custard over the first layer.
  8. Pour the remaining batter on top of the custard.
  9. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes.
  10. Cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or fresh berries. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
