A delightful mash-up of cookie goodness with a caramel explosion and a smooth chocolate topping, reminiscent of nostalgic kitchen moments.

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel candies
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, along with the vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this dry mix to the butter mixture, stirring just until combined.
  5. Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  6. Heat the caramel candies and heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until melted and smooth.
  7. Pour the caramel over the cookie layer in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  8. Crumble the remaining cookie dough over the caramel layer.
  9. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan.
  11. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or a double boiler, stirring until smooth.
  12. Spread the melted chocolate over the cooled cookie bars.

Notes

Consider pairing with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
