A delightful Tiramisu Cake that captures the essence of Italian cafes with its blend of coffee, cream, and ladyfingers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Custard Mixture: In a medium saucepan, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until smooth. Add the milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Once it starts to coat the back of a spoon, remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Make the Cream Mixture: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until well incorporated.
  3. Combine the Mixtures: Once the custard has cooled down, combine it with the mascarpone mixture, stirring gently until it’s smooth and creamy.
  4. Prepare the Coffee Dip: In a shallow dish, mix the cooled coffee with coffee liqueur if using.
  5. Layer the Ladyfingers: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture one at a time and layer them in the bottom of your serving dish.
  6. Assemble the Layers: Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat the layers, finishing with the remaining mascarpone mix on top.
  7. Chill the Cake: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight if you can wait.
  8. Final Touches: Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and add chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes
