A delightful Tiramisu Birthday Cake that combines espresso-soaked layers with rich mascarpone frosting, perfect for celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup strong brewed espresso, cooled
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs One at a Time: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in Milk and Dry Ingredients: Pour in the milk, then add the baking powder and salt. Gradually add the flour, mixing gently until just blended.
  5. Bake the Layers: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool the Cakes: Let the cake layers cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Whip the Mascarpone Frosting: Whip together the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  8. Brush with Espresso: Once the cakes are cool, brush each layer generously with espresso.
  9. Build Your Cake: Place one layer on a serving plate, spread frosting on top, then add the second layer and frost the top and sides.
  10. Dust with Cocoa: Dust the top of your cake with cocoa powder.
  11. Chill Before Serving: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipping cream for an indulgent treat.
