Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade by mixing together the soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  2. Marinate the chicken in the marinade for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours or overnight for the best flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook the chicken for about 7-8 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked.
  5. Add extra flavor by brushing the chicken with additional marinade as it cooks.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For a thicker glaze, simmer the leftover marinade until it reduces down. Serve over rice and pair with steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
