Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Mix the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk in another bowl until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Layer half of the batter into the prepared cake pan, drizzle half of the caramel sauce, then add the remaining batter on top, finishing with the rest of the caramel sauce.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Pairs well with coffee or milk.
