A comforting dish of orzo pasta infused with Italian sausage and fresh broccoli, served in a creamy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Sauté the sausage in a large pan with olive oil over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  2. Add the broccoli florets and cook for a few minutes until tender.
  3. Bring in the orzo and chicken broth; bring to a boil.
  4. Simmer the pasta until the orzo is cooked, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Create the creamy sauce by stirring in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until well mixed.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For added texture, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers. For a lighter version, substitute turkey or chicken sausage and use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
