Ingredients
Scale
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1.5 cups packed light brown sugar
0.5 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
2.5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
0.5 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup salted caramel sauce
Sea salt flakes for sprinkling
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp whole milk or cream
1 tsp ground cinnamon
0.5 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Begin by gathering all your ingredients. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Cream them together on medium speed until light and fluffy.
Next, beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract, mixing until well blended.
In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Gradually add this mixture to your butter-sugar-egg blend and mix until just combined.
Spread half of the dough into the prepared baking dish, pour the salted caramel sauce over the dough, and crumble the remaining dough over the top.
Place your baking dish in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
Once baked, remove the bars from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before lifting them out to cool completely on a wire rack.
For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, whole milk or cream, and remaining vanilla extract, drizzle it over the cooled bars, and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
