A comforting Salisbury steak recipe with rich mushroom gravy, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until well incorporated and form into four patties.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add oil if needed, and brown the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the butter and add sliced mushrooms, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the flour with the mushrooms and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring continuously until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Return the browned patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer on low heat for 10 minutes. Serve hot.

Notes

For best results, use lean ground beef and allow patties to rest after cooking to redistribute juices.
