A comforting homemade lasagna layered with creamy ricotta, rich meat sauce, and bubbling mozzarella, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the ground beef in a skillet until fully cooked, then drain excess fat. Add marinara sauce and heat through.
  4. Mix ricotta cheese, egg, oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl until creamy.
  5. Start layering by spreading a layer of meat sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish, then place three lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles and top with a third of the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers, ending with noodles, meat sauce, and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  7. Bake covered with foil for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

Let the lasagna rest for about 10 minutes before cutting to maintain the layers. For variations, try ground turkey or pesto sauce.
