Tender, slow-cooked pulled pork served on hamburger buns with optional crunchy coleslaw.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Coleslaw (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Rub the pork shoulder generously with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place the seasoned pork shoulder and chopped onion in a roasting pan and cover it tightly with foil.
  4. Bake the pork shoulder for 3-4 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls apart.
  5. Remove the pork from the oven and let it cool slightly. Shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Mix the shredded pork with barbecue sauce until well-coated.
  7. Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns, topped with coleslaw if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the pork shoulder overnight with spices. This recipe can also be adapted for a slow cooker.
