A rich and buttery pound cake that evokes memories of family gatherings and homemade treats.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. Creaming together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder in another bowl.
  6. Combine the sifted dry ingredients into the creamed mixture, mixing until just blended.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve plain or with fruit, cream, or drizzle of chocolate sauce. Can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days.
