A delicious homemade version of the classic Philly cheesesteak, packed with savory beef, sweet onions, and melted provolone cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef steak (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers; sauté until soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Season the steak with salt and pepper, then add to the skillet. Cook until the steak is browned and cooked through, around 5 minutes.
  4. Layer provolone cheese over the steak mixture and cover the skillet until the cheese has melted, about 2 minutes.
  5. Divide the cheesy steak mixture among the hoagie rolls and serve hot, letting the cheese stretch with every bite!

Notes

For a twist, try adding scrambled eggs for a breakfast version or serve in a lettuce wrap for a lighter meal.
