A comforting dessert featuring stale bread and fresh peaches in a creamy custard.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups stale bread, cubed
  • 2 cups fresh peaches, diced
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  3. Add the cubed bread and diced peaches to the egg mixture, stirring gently to combine.
  4. Pour the melted butter into a baking dish, coating the bottom evenly, then add the bread mixture.
  5. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until set and golden.
  6. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use stale bread for best results; it absorbs the custard better.
