A rich, chocolatey cake studded with crumbled Oreo cookies, perfect for birthday celebrations.

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup crushed Oreos
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup crushed Oreos for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the flour mixture and beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until well combined to ensure moisture.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for about 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Beat the softened butter until creamy for the frosting.
  9. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until fully combined.
  10. Add heavy cream and crushed Oreos to the butter mixture, mixing until smooth.
  11. Frost one cake layer with frosting, place the second layer on top, then frost the top and sides of the cake.
  12. Decorate with additional crushed Oreos on top for added crunch.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh fruit for a perfect pairing.
