  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the wet mixture with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Spoon a mound of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, making an indent in the center.
  8. Add a small dollop of cream cheese in the center of each mound.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are set.
  10. Cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Can refrigerate for about a week.
