Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (optional)
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Create the flavorful sauce by mixing the soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and cornstarch in a bowl.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the flank steak in the pan until well browned.
  4. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another minute.
  5. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and stir well; toss in green onions and optional bell pepper.
  6. Thicken the sauce for a few more minutes until it coats all the ingredients beautifully.
  7. Serve the Mongolian beef hot over cooked rice.
