  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the butter and granulated sugar in a separate bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Incorporate the poppy seeds, lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
