Delightful lemon custard-filled donuts that are soft, sweet, and perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup lemon vanilla custard (store-bought or homemade)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and lemon zest in another bowl.
  4. Mix the wet and dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity halfway.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the donuts for a few minutes before removing them from the pan.
  8. Fill each donut with lemon vanilla custard using a piping bag.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

These donuts are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature and up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
