A delightful cherry pie with a golden lattice crust, perfect for summer gatherings and sweet indulgences.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 package of pie crusts (or homemade)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Combine the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and almond extract in a large bowl. Stir gently to combine and set aside.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie plate.
  4. Pour the cherry filling into the crust, spreading it evenly.
  5. Roll out the second pie crust and cut it into strips for the lattice top.
  6. Arrange the strips over the filling to form a lattice pattern.
  7. Trim excess crust and crimp the edges to seal.
  8. Mix the egg and milk in a bowl and brush the mixture over the lattice.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  10. Cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
