This homemade lasagna with ricotta is a cozy dish that combines tender noodles, savory ground beef, and creamy cheese, promising warmth and comfort.

Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the ground beef over medium heat, seasoning with salt and pepper. Drain excess fat.
  4. Prepare the ricotta mixture by combining ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread a layer of marinara sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  7. Add 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by 1/3 of the meat mixture and a sprinkle of mozzarella.
  8. Repeat layers two more times, ending with noodles, marinara sauce, and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired.

Notes

Make sure to salt your pasta water for better flavor. You can add a bit of cream to the ricotta for extra creaminess.
