Delicious homemade churros that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, coated generously with cinnamon sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Boil the mixture: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Bring this delightful concoction to a boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  2. Combine ingredients: Once boiling, stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a cohesive ball. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  3. Beat the eggs: Beat in 2 eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Follow with 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  4. Heat the oil: In a deep fryer or large saucepan, heat oil to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Prepare to pipe: Transfer the dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.
  6. Fry the dough: Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on all sides.
  7. Drain the churros: Use a slotted spoon to remove the churros and let them drain on paper towels.
  8. Sweeten with cinnamon sugar: While warm, roll the churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve with chocolate sauce or ice cream for dipping. Best enjoyed fresh.
