Delightful homemade candied pecans, perfect for snacking, topping salads, or enhancing desserts.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine the syrup ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, and salt. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add the pecans and vanilla extract to the saucepan. Stir to coat each pecan half.
  3. Continue to cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and caramelizes, about 10 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and spread the pecans in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Allow to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. Avoid refrigeration to keep them crispy.
