A comforting and nostalgic dish featuring ground beef, mushrooms, and a creamy sauce served over egg noodles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Egg noodles (for serving)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Browning the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it’s cooked through. Drain any excess fat to keep the dish from becoming too greasy.
  2. Sautéing the aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion becomes soft and translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Cooking the mushrooms: Stir in the sliced mushrooms, cooking until they become tender, around 5 minutes.
  4. Mixing in the flour: Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the mixture and stir well to coat everything evenly.
  5. Adding the broth: Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring continuously.
  6. Seasoning and simmering: Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to taste. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Incorporating the cream: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the sour cream until fully combined.
  8. Serving the dish: Serve the stroganoff over cooked egg noodles, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

For a lighter version, consider substituting ground beef for ground turkey. This dish can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for long-term storage.
