Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat until completely melted.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  4. Whisk together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture gradually, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let cool on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
