An intriguing combination of hot and cold dessert featuring creamy vanilla ice cream wrapped in a crunchy coating of cornflakes, fried to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup cornflakes, crushed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Oil for frying
  • Chocolate sauce (optional)
  • Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Scoop ice cream into balls and freeze until solid, about 2 hours.
  2. Prepare the coating by mixing flour and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. Beat eggs and milk in another bowl until well combined.
  4. Roll each ice cream ball in the cinnamon-flour mixture, dip it in the egg mixture, and coat it in crushed cornflakes.
  5. Freeze the coated balls again for at least another hour.
  6. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry the coated ice cream balls until they become golden brown, about 20-30 seconds.
  8. Remove the fried ice cream and let them drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve immediately with chocolate sauce and whipped cream if desired.

Notes

Make ice cream balls ahead of time and freeze them to save time later. For best results, ensure the ice cream is very firm before frying.
