A comforting dish of crispy bacon, tender potatoes, and sweet wilted cabbage that brings everyone together at the table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 2 cups potatoes, diced
  • 4 strips of bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside for later.
  2. In the rendered bacon fat, add the butter and sliced onions. Sauté until the onions are soft and translucent, stirring occasionally to avoid burning.
  3. Add the diced potatoes to the skillet, cooking until they are golden brown and tender, about 10 minutes. Don’t forget to stir them occasionally!
  4. Stir in the chopped cabbage and the previously cooked bacon. Cook until the cabbage is wilted and tender, about 5 minutes, letting the flavors meld beautifully.
  5. Give it a taste and season with salt and pepper to your liking.
  6. Serve warm as a delightful side or a satisfying main dish. Enjoy every nostalgic bite!

Notes

For extra flavor, add minced garlic; to make it vegetarian, omit bacon and use olive oil.
