A delightful dessert featuring sweet and tart cherries topped with a crunchy oat mixture, perfect for summer gatherings.

  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the cherries in a mixing bowl by combining them with lemon juice.
  3. Make the oat topping by mixing oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt, then blend in melted butter until crumbly.
  4. Assemble the crisp by sprinkling the oat mixture over the prepared cherries.
  5. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden and cherries are bubbling.
  6. Cool slightly before serving warm, preferably with vanilla ice cream.

Notes
