Delightful French macarons with a harmonious blend of crisp shells and luscious fillings, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Filling of choice (buttercream, ganache, jam)

Instructions

  1. Sift the almond flour and powdered sugar together into a bowl, ensuring there are no lumps.
  2. Beat the egg whites until frothy, add cream of tartar and gradually sprinkle in the granulated sugar, continue until you reach stiff peaks.
  3. Add food coloring and mix until combined, creating the desired hue.
  4. Fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites carefully.
  5. Transfer the batter into a piping bag and pipe small circles onto a baking sheet.
  6. Let the macarons sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes until a skin forms.
  7. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Cool completely and fill your macarons with the desired filling.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Unfilled shells can be frozen for up to a month.
