A classic creamy custard dessert with a luscious caramel topping that brings warmth and joy to any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup of evaporated milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of sugar (for caramel)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), getting it nice and warm for your flan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns golden brown. Carefully pour it into a round baking dish to form a luscious layer of caramel on the bottom.
  3. In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until you achieve a smooth and creamy mixture.
  4. Pour the blended mixture over the caramel in the baking dish, ensuring the caramel layer is completely covered.
  5. Place the filled baking dish in a larger baking pan and fill the larger pan with water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan dish.
  6. Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, let it cool at room temperature for a bit, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  8. To serve, run a knife around the edges and gently invert the flan onto a plate.

Notes

Flan pairs well with fresh berries, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of toasted coconut. It can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
