A delightful and unexpected chocolate cake layered with nuts, coconut, and a creamy topping, perfect for celebrations or cozy weekends.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Sprinkle the chopped nuts and shredded coconut evenly over the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Prepare the German chocolate cake mix according to package instructions. Pour the batter over the nuts and coconut.
  4. Beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spoon this mixture over the cake batter.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Leftovers can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days.
