A rich and indulgent chocolate cake that promises a decadent experience with every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk thoroughly.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry mixture. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until well combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips, if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting and enjoy!

Notes

Store the cake wrapped in plastic wrap at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Freeze individual slices for up to 3 months.
