Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 slice of ham
  • 1 slice of cheese (Gruyère or Emmental)
  • 1 egg
  • Butter
  • Salt and pepper
  • Béchamel sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Butter the bread by spreading butter on one side of each slice.
  2. Place one slice of bread butter-side down in a heated skillet over medium heat.
  3. Layer the slice of ham on top of the bread, followed by the cheese slice.
  4. Take the second slice of bread and place it on top, butter-side up.
  5. Cook the sandwich until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Fry an egg sunny-side up in a separate pan.
  7. Plate the sandwich and carefully place the fried egg on top.
  8. Drizzle with béchamel sauce if desired.

Notes

For a crunchier texture, ensure your skillet is well-heated before cooking the sandwich. Experiment with different cheeses and breads for unique flavors.
