A delightful Italian dessert that combines coffee, cream, and ladyfinger cookies for a luxurious treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup brewed espresso, cooled
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Create the Custard Base: In a medium saucepan, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until smooth. Add the milk and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Whip the Cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream until well combined.
  4. Prepare the Coffee Mixture: In a shallow dish, combine the cooled brewed espresso and coffee liqueur.
  5. Dip the Ladyfingers: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, taking care not to soak them.
  6. Layer Your Tiramisu: In a 9×9 inch dish, layer half of the dipped ladyfingers at the bottom, followed by half of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat the layering, finishing with the mascarpone mix. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  7. Final Touches: Before serving, dust your tiramisu with cocoa powder and add dark chocolate shavings.

Notes

For best flavor, chill overnight. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing.
