A delightful dessert that combines sweet, tender peaches with a buttery, cake-like crust.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the sliced peaches with 1/2 cup of sugar and set aside.
  3. Combine the flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Pour the melted butter into a baking dish, then pour the batter over the butter (do not stir).
  6. Spoon the peaches and their juices on top.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Serve warm, optionally with ice cream.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh peaches. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
