Delightful soft pretzels coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for snacking and sharing.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Coarse sea salt (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl; let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Stir in flour and salt until a dough forms; knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough in a greased bowl and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) while the dough is rising.
  5. Bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil in a large pot.
  6. Roll the risen dough into ropes and shape them into pretzels.
  7. Boil the pretzels in the baking soda water for 30 seconds each, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Brush pretzels with melted butter, then mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on top.
  9. Generously sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Serve with warm vanilla icing, creamy chocolate sauce, cheese sauce, or mustard.
