A comforting dessert featuring spiced apples topped with a soft, cake-like layer reminiscent of snickerdoodle cookies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s hot enough to give your cobbler that lovely golden color.
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the diced apples with ground cinnamon to coat them evenly.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract and blend until smooth.
  5. Gently combine the wet mixture with the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Pour half of the batter into a greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
  7. Layer the cinnamon-coated apples over the batter, spreading them out evenly.
  8. Dollop the remaining batter over the apples, creating a delightful crust as it bakes.
  9. Bake in your preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
  10. Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving.
