Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls with a creamy frosting, perfect for cozy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, generously whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Create the Dough: In a saucepan, gently heat the milk and butter until warm. Pour the mixture into the dry ingredients and add the egg.
  3. Stir until all ingredients are combined to form a dough.
  4. Knead the Dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough until smooth and elastic for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Place it in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about an hour until it doubles in size.
  6. Roll Out the Dough: Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Add the Cinnamon Filling: Spread soft butter over the rolled dough and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar.
  8. Form the Rolls: Roll the dough into a tight log, slice into 12 pieces, and place in a greased baking dish.
  9. Second Rise: Cover and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake to Perfection: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Make the Frosting: Mix cream cheese and powdered sugar until creamy.
  12. Frost the Rolls: Spread frosting over the warm rolls.

Notes

These cinnamon rolls can be customized with nuts or raisins. Ensure your milk is warm, not hot, for the best yeast activation.
