Delicious and chewy homemade cinnamon raisin bagels, perfect for a cozy breakfast treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1½ cups warm water
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon malt syrup (optional)
  • Sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit until bubbly.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: bread flour, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients into the yeast mixture to form a rough dough.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Add the raisins and fold them into the dough.
  6. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for about 1 hour until doubled.
  7. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  8. Boil water in a pot and add malt syrup if using.
  9. Shape the dough into 8 equal bagels.
  10. Boil each bagel for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  11. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper for the boiled bagels.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  13. Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 days. Freeze for up to 3 months.
