A rich and moist chocolate cake layered with fluffy Oreo buttercream, perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 package Oreo cookies
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Incorporate gradually the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs for the frosting.
  8. Cream the softened butter until creamy.
  9. Add the powdered sugar and heavy cream, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
  10. Fold in the crushed Oreos.
  11. Layer one cake layer on your serving platter and fill with Oreo frosting.
  12. Frost the top and sides with Oreo buttercream.
  13. Garnish with crushed Oreos before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container. Best enjoyed fresh but can be kept for up to a week in the fridge.
