Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Whisk together the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and egg in a separate bowl.
  6. Add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture and stir until just combined.
  7. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick.
  8. Cut the dough into wedges and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and fragrant.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with butter, clotted cream, or homemade jam. Can store in an airtight container for up to 2 days; freeze for longer storage.
