  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until well blended.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks.

Notes

For softer cookies, avoid over-baking. Chill the dough for thicker cookies. Substitute half the chocolate chips with nuts or dried fruit if desired.
