An iconic dish with a perfect blend of spices, creamy sauce, and tender chicken that brings warmth and comfort to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g chicken breast, cut into cubes
  • 200g yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 400g canned tomatoes
  • 200ml cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and salt. Add chicken and marinate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions until golden. Add garlic and ginger, sauté for a minute until fragrant.
  3. Brown the Chicken: Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook until it’s beautifully browned, allowing those savory flavors to develop.
  4. Combine with Tomatoes: Pour in the canned tomatoes and stir well. Let the mixture simmer for about 15 minutes, letting the flavors meld together.
  5. Add the Cream: Stir in the cream and give it another gentle simmer for another 5 minutes. This is where the sauce transforms into that luscious, silky goodness.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Serve your Chicken Tikka Masala garnished with fresh cilantro, ready to be enjoyed with naan or rice.

Notes

Pairs beautifully with basmati rice, warm naan, or cucumber raita. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
