Delightfully nostalgic and chewy, these cookies combine hearty oats with rich chocolate chips for a perfect treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to create the perfect environment for your cookies to bake evenly.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy. This should take about 2-3 minutes with a mixer.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
  4. Combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the creamed butter and sugars, blending until just combined.
  5. Gently stir in the old-fashioned oats and chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Using a rounded tablespoon, drop cookie dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space between each one for the cookies to spread.
  7. Slide the cookie sheets into the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely. Enjoy with a tall glass of milk or your favorite beverage!

Notes

For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
