Delicious and tender Carnitas Tacos made with slow-cooked pork and topped with fresh ingredients.

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • Taco tortillas
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Sliced radishes
  • Diced onions
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Gather Your Ingredients: In a slow cooker, add the pork shoulder, onion, garlic, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Pour in the orange juice and lime juice.
  2. Slow Cook the Pork: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and shreds easily.
  3. Shred the Pork: Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  4. Optional Crisping: For a crispy texture, place the shredded pork on a baking sheet and broil for 5-10 minutes until edges are sizzling.
  5. Warm the Tortillas: Warm the taco tortillas in a skillet or microwave.
  6. Assemble the Tacos: Fill each tortilla with the shredded pork, topped with cilantro, radishes, diced onions, and a squeeze of lime juice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Serve with a side of Mexican street corn or tortilla chips with fresh salsa. Add avocado or jalapeños for extra flavor.
