Decadent brownies intensified with the nutty flavor of brown butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and continue cooking until it turns golden brown with a nutty aroma.
  2. Cool the butter: Remove from heat and let the browned butter cool slightly.
  3. Combine butter and sugar: In a mixing bowl, combine the brown butter and granulated sugar, and stir until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition to ensure a rich texture.
  5. Incorporate vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract for that extra depth of flavor.
  6. Mix dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  7. Fold together: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  8. Prepare for baking: Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake to perfection: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool and slice: Let cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes
