Delicious brownies with a nutty depth from browned butter, combining richness with chocolatey goodness.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the butter by melting it in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat.
  3. Mix the brown butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until well combined.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared dish, spreading it evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel for an extra treat. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
